Baptism

Christening

in Christ Church,
Lichfield

Initial enquiries about Baptism,
also called Christening,
can be made to

Your child is precious to you and precious to God. You want the very best for them, and so does God.
You want them to make right choices in life, for themselves and for others.

During a Christening your child will be baptised with water, anointed with oil, prayed for and presented with a lighted candle.

It’s the start of an amazing journey of faith for your child, their parent(s) Godparents and Sponsors, and a special time for all your family and friends.

Thanksgivings

for the Gift of a Child

A special church service, different from a Christening, can be used as a way to say thank you to God for your child. It is called a 'Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child’. It’s a lovely time when we ask for God’s blessing on and pray for your child.

It is possible to have this service instead of a Christening if you decide that now isn’t the right time to have your child Baptised.

You might also choose this service when your baby is just born, or if you have adopted a child into your family and you simply want to celebrate this with special words said by a vicar in church.

Whatever the reason, the vicar will be delighted to talk to you about Christening and Thanksgiving services.

These special services take place
in Christ Church
on the first Sunday of each month,
at 12.00 noon
or
during the 9.30 Communion Service
on the first Sunday of most months.
